Sour Water Treatment
Sour water is a waste product from refineries and must be treated before it can be reused or released into the environment.
Typically, sour water has a high alkalinity and is contaminated with sulphides as well as oil, phenols, BTEX, and PAH.
The ABCAN Filtration System can remove all of these contaminants in situ. It has proved itself to be more cost effect than other available technologies.
How Does It Work?
Initially Hydrochloric acid (non-fuming) is introduced via a static mixer to reduce the pH to 9 or less.
Secondly the fluid is filtered through two separate filter units. These contain our own specifically produced filter media which are impregnated with a surfactant that removes oil (including dissolved oil), PAH and BTEX.
An additional proprietary media can be used to remove Phenols if required.
The final stage is to use neutral Fenton’s reagent to oxidise the Sulphides to elemental Sulphur.
The elemental Sulphur is then filtered out using a self-cleaning filter.
The ABCAN system is designed to be fully automated with minimal manual input.
